Relics of the Deluge

2021 September/ October

This show “Relics of the Deluge” was supposed to open June 2020. Instead the world was engulfed in confusion of pandemic. The world had stopped many human activities, met with a flood of problems big and small. Injustice and inequality in every field in every part of the world. Corruption with money shining through government. Then consequences of human activity appears obvious to majority of people’s eye as glimpse of climate emergency. Human ugliness on display, selfishness in the name of freedom, unbelievable number of lives just vanished from this planet. The weight of human life and economy are on both sides of the scale. We are living in a historic moment.

The time is when the world sank under the water. Place is here where we keep busy filling with artificial materials and buildings. The question is what do you want to leave to the future? Money won’t mean anything anymore, capitalism won’t do any good. We have to rethink concept of happiness, and purpose of life. And the proposition for an artist is how art can enrich our life, instead of buying “rich” life with money.

In this show, I attempt to capture urgent problems we face, wrapped in humor, and present in whimsical way to seed ideas to viewers mind. My work is a reflection of how I want to live, think in my everyday life.
