Lachrymalia
2022 November
Title of the show “Lachrymalia” is my made up word from “Lachrymal” + “Animalia”, meaning ‘weeping animal kingdom’. For humans, there is so much despair and sadness right now from wars and conflicts, natural disasters, displacements, pandemics, and uncertainty of the future. But also Biodiversity loss, and eco-system collapsing for all of us earthlings, yet humans are still denying the climate change.
On 2022, as we’ve lost lot of water for tears, we heard a lot of serious problems with droughts, yet we saw many historic floods in the U.S, and all over the world. So for this show I wanted to make documentations of earthlings, wanted something related to water, and documentations of current state of world for the history.
I wish I can collect all these tears of mourning around the world, and send it to rivers and lakes that are suffering from droughts. I hope that experience of despair would grow a seed of empathy to others that are missing these days.
